District Manager - Traveling Sports Photography Company
PhotoMules is a fast-growing sports photography company and we’re looking to add to our leadership team!
Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid w/travel required)
The Role – What You’ll be Doing:
The District Manager plays a vital leadership role within the company, overseeing multiple weekend sports photography events across a designated region. This individual is responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and managing staff, while ensuring top-tier customer experience, operational efficiency, and event execution. The District Manager will act as the main liaison between staff and tournament directors and must maintain strong expertise in photography, event coordination, and sales.

Primary Responsibilities:
Event Planning & Execution:
• Coordinate and oversee 1–4+ sports photography events per weekend within the district.
• Serve as the on-site leader for larger or high-profile events, ensuring smooth operations and strong logistical execution.
• Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, and resources are in place for each event (ie travel, housing, rentals etc).
• Maintain oversight of simultaneous events across the district through strong communication and delegation.
Staff Management & Development:
• Onboard, and schedule a high-performing team of photographers, sales associates, and event leads.
• Foster a positive, productive team culture focused on excellence and customer service.
• Conduct regular training sessions for staff on photography techniques, sales strategies, and technical troubleshooting.
• Mentor and develop team leads, ensuring they are confident in managing events independently.
Team & Partner Relations:
• Build and maintain relationships with tournament directors, league representatives, and venue partners.
• Communicate proactively with team regarding event schedules, staffing needs, and logistics.
• Address any concerns or last-minute changes promptly to ensure seamless event coverage.
Operations & Logistics:
• Oversee equipment and product for event along with housing or travel expenses.
• Ensure proper setup and teardown of equipment at each venue.
• Monitor inventory and manage equipment maintenance and organization across the district.
Technical & Sales Support:
• Maintain strong knowledge of camera systems, lighting setups, and photo editing/print software.
• Provide technical support to staff as needed, both on-site and remotely.
• Oversee and promote sales strategies at events or meetings.
• Troubleshoot technical issues quickly in fast-paced live event environments.
Administrative Duties:
• Participate in weekly district calls/meetings for planning and reporting.
• Track and approve team member hours, payroll submissions, and expense reports.
• Report event performance, staffing updates, and revenue data to upper management.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in event management, photography, or field operations leadership.
• Strong photography knowledge (portrait/sports) and comfort with editing software (e.g., Capture One, Photoshop).
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing remote or travel-based teams.
• Ability to manage multiple events concurrently with strong time management and organization.
• Experience in sales or retail event environments is a strong plus.
• Must be able to travel frequently, including weekends; valid driver’s license required.

Compensation & Benefits
